  1. 1
    Set it up
Dashboard → Chat Widget: turn it on, choose title, greeting, colour and position, and preview it live.
  2. 2
    Allow your websites
List the sites that may use the widget (exact domains or *.yourdomain.com). Requests from anywhere else are refused.
  3. 3
    Paste the snippet
Copy the one-line script tag into your site’s HTML (before </body>) or your tag manager.
  4. 4
    Decide on email
Require an email before hand-off so your team can reply; it is asked only when a person is needed.
  5. 5
    Optional: live chat
Turn on “Live chat with your team” and set your hours so agents can take over the conversation in the widget itself (see Live chat and hand-off tickets).

How conversations work

  • Confident answers appear instantly. Drafts that would normally go to review are hidden unless you turn on “show drafts in chat”.
  • When TR-AI cannot help, or the visitor clicks “Talk to a person”, the chat becomes a ticket with the full transcript in whichever help desk you connected — Zendesk, Freshdesk, Intercom, HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoho Desk, ServiceNow or Jira Service Management. TR-AI never auto-answers those hand-off tickets.
  • With no help desk connected, or if the help desk rejects the call, the transcript is emailed to your hand-off address (or the account owner) with Reply-To set to the visitor.
  • With assisted mode on, every visitor is offered a person straight away.
  • Each conversation counts as one ticket toward your daily cap.
  • Visitors can attach up to 3 screenshots per message (paste, drag or the paperclip; PNG, JPEG, GIF or WebP up to 3.5 MB). TR-AI reads them with the message; they are held in memory for at most 15 minutes and never stored — the transcript only says “Screenshot shared in chat”, and hand-off tickets don’t include the image.
Tips & tricks
  • Write a greeting that sets expectations: “Ask me anything about billing, setup or integrations — I’ll get a person if I can’t help.”
  • Rotate the widget key if you ever need to cut off an old site; update the snippet afterwards.
  • Review the recent conversations list weekly: hand-offs show you which questions your knowledge base is missing.
  • Running several brands? Assign each widget key to a brand so its replies use that brand’s voice and knowledge sources.
